Leaning Post Productions is a partnership of Laurie and Colin Greenly. Laurie's activities include creating software for art education as well as web sites for businesses and professionals. Colin has spent his life creating works of art.
Laurie is
an interactive media developer, a former, award winning, public school
art teacher, speaker at conferences and related media presentations,
and president of Leaning Post Productions. Her first CD-ROM "Ideadisc" was
a winner of a National Educational Media Network Gold Apple Award of
Excellence. She has since created "Ideadisc 2.0", the CD-ROM "Images
of the Whole, The Artist's Sketchbook", a collaboration between Laurie
and Colin, and most recently "ArtSite"
and "ArtWebsite".
The idea for ArtSite came from Laurie's work with her own students. She found that students were truly inspired by both contemporary and historic art as well as the contributions artists have made to world culture. She found that her students, by learning through art, were able to model their own work after the work of artists instead of relying on their own limited knowlege of popular culture.
ArtWebsite was inspired by Laurie's collaboration with The Kennedy Center's website ArtsEdge. "IdeaWeb" was one of the first online student galleries and featured not only her students' artworks, but also inlcuded a description of what inspired the works. Laurie found that students take a great deal
of pride
in
seeing
their efforts online and that the Internet can be a very effective tool in gaining community support for the arts.
Colin is an artist who has taught all
ages, a former Dana Professor of Fine Arts at Colgate University, and
has been a visiting artist at several colleges,
universities, and museums.
