Artsite
Q - Can we add ArtSite to our school Internet site to share with our community?
A - No, the ArtSite licensing agreement does not permit this use. Many of the pre-loaded art works and descriptions are copyrighted by museums and/or artists. Museums and artists can limit the display of images via the Internet. However, copyright law does permit you to download an unlimited number of images for educational use within your classroom, school, or district. (read more)

Q - Are there any controls on the museum links that would filter inappropriate material for k-8 children?
A - The included museum links open to each museum website. Because the text on the pages usually does not reflect the images (for example, a nude figure ), a filtering feature wouldn't work.  The good news is that you can easily delete any of the museum links and add your own.  You can also change the links so that they open up to a specific page within the museum website.
ArtSite cannot override any web pages which are already blocked by your school or district.

Q - The page images are not refreshing when I use Internet Explorer on my Mac.
A - From the 'Explorer' menu, choose 'Preferences...'. Under 'Web Browser', choose 'Advanced'. Under 'Cache', choose 'Always'.

Q - Can I work on my ArtSite Museum from home?
A - All of your writing is saved within the database and the images are saved in the database. You can move the database and media folder from one computer to another.

Q - Is there a way that I can display richer colors on my Mac screen?
A - From the Dock, choose the Preferences Icon. Under 'Hardware', choose 'Display'. Click the "Color" tab and choose "sRGB Profile".

Q - I have the Windows version of ArtSite Classroom and just got a couple of additional computers in my classroom. When I tried to access the program from the new student computers I wasn't able to see the images.
A - The earliest version of ArtSite Classroom for Windows could not recognize the images on some small networks. Please contact us for a free upgrade.

Q - I have ArtSite Classroom installed on a Windows workgroup including 12 computers. Sometimes the students will see the following error:
" A script on this page is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may become unresponsive. Do you want to abort the script?" What should I do?
A - Click "No" and you probably won't see the message again. ArtSite Classroom for Windows is designed for a small workgroup. Each of the student computers go to the host computer to find the images. If you have a slower network the student computers keep trying to access the images over and over. Your web browser interprets this as a script error. If you are trying to run ArtSite Classroom on a larger classroom network, we recommend you upgrade to the Network version of ArtSite and install IIS on the host computer.

Q - I created a new ArtSite collection name. When I go to MyMuseum and choose my new collection I see a message that no record exists. How do I fill my new Collection with Museum pages?
A - Next to "No Record Exists" is an "Add" link. The "Add" link directs you to a where you can assemble a Museum page and place it in your new collection. After you have created your first page, you can choose the collection from the drop down list and add, delete, and/or change pages.

Q - How much Disk space does each ArtWebsite use on our computer or server?
A - ArtWebsite uses about 4MB of Hard Drive space. More space will be required as you add images to the programs. If images are reduced in size to about 450 pixels and saved for the web (72 dpi), about 15 images will equal 1 MB of Hard Drive space.

Q - What actions have you taken to insure the security of our website after ArtWebsite is installed?
A - If a student tries to enter the teachers pages by entering a page address, they will be re-directed to the home page of the site. ArtWebsite has also been independently tested to insure that it is free of any SQL vulnerabilities. That means someone cannot enter your website through the ArtWebsite web pages.

Q - I know that ArtWebsite is installed on a Windows server. Can I log in from my Mac at home to build my school gallery site?
A - Yes, you can log in from any computer with an internet connection to build and update your website.

Q - Can I re-design the layout of ArtWebsite with my own custom coding?
A - While we have included many custom design features, the ArtWebsite license does not allow you to change the program. However we can integrate your header and left border for a small additional fee. Learn about our custom web services.
