ArtSite Internet Explorer users... Due to the increased security in Internet Explorer 7, you will need to add ArtSite to your trusted sites:
In Internet Explorer 7, choose 'Internet Options' from the 'Tools' drop down menu.
Click the 'Security' tab.
Click 'Trusted Sites' and then click the 'Sites' button.
Click to remove the check next to "Require server verification..."
Type 'http://localhost' under "Add this website to the zone." Click the 'Add' button.
Click the 'Close' button and then the 'OK' button.
ArtSite Mac users... Every now and then it is a good idea to click the 'Database Update' left border link to back up your system database to the artsite.sql file. While it is unlikely that the ArtSite folder permissions will change, it's a good idea to check them before backing up.

If the ArtSite folder does not have the correct permissions, the artsite.sql file cannot be backed up. While ArtSite ships with the correct permissions, it is a good idea to double check the folder before you do a backup:
The ArtSite folder is located in the Library -> Webserver -> Documents folder.
Click the ArtSite folder.
Go to the 'File' menu and choose 'Get Info'.
Click 'Ownership and Permissions' to display the details.
Click the little lock button so that it unlocks.
The 'Owner' is most likely you. Change the 'Group' to 'staff'.
Change the 'Access' to 'Read & Write' for the Owner, Group, and Others.
Click the 'Apply to enclosed items...' button. |

When the ArtSite folder permissions are correct, log in and click the 'Backup ArtSite Database' link. (If you use ArtSite Classroom or Network, log in as the Administrator or Administrator/Teacher). Save a copy of the artsite.sql file and the media folder to insure that all of your work is saved.
To move your writing and images between computers or to a new computer:
Copy the artsite.sql file and the media folder to the new ArtSite folder. Check to be sure the ArtSite folder on the other has the correct permissions. Click the 'Database Update' link on the left border and then the 'Restore ArtSite Database' text link. |
